BeatBot

Ux/UI Design

- Project Overview

BeatBot is an AI-powered app that allows event organizers to create a shared music mix built from playlists submitted by guests ahead of time. During the event, guests can like songs and add them to their personal playlists, while the AI learns their preferences and adjusts the music in real time to match the crowd’s taste

The Process:

- Identifying

   the Issue:

At events, it’s nearly impossible to choose music that fits everyone’s taste. With diverse guests and one fixed playlist or DJ, the music often misses the mark—making it harder to keep everyone connected and engaged.

Additionally, blending diverse musical preferences into one seamless mix takes a lot of effort and real-time adjustment.

- Our Goals:

Our goal is to use artificial intelligence to gather participants’ favorite playlists and create a music mix that fits the mood of the event. The AI learns in real time from thumbs up and down feedback, adjusting the playlist to keep the atmosphere fun and engaging.

- Research:

We began by exploring similar apps to understand effective design patterns, then spoke with potential users to find ways to enhance the experience in our own app.

We used those interviews to create

two personas for our application:

Persona #1

Name:

Alex Mikhailov

Age:

27 years old

Goals:
hosts weekend parties in a loft he owns for his diverse group of friends. He wants to take the responsibility of choosing the music off his shoulders.

Persona #2

Name:

Sarah Altman

Age:

50 years old

Goal:
Organizing a wedding anniversary event for herself and her husband.

She wants the music to reflect all her guests and represent the different age groups at the event.

The Flows

The app is divided into three distinct flows: one for the event planner, one for guests who receive an invitation from the planner, and one for the actual event experience.

The event planner flow begins with the organizer naming the event, interacting with the AI BeatBot to define the desired vibe and atmosphere, and sending an invitation link to all participants.

The guest flow starts when participants receive an invite from the event planner. The invite includes a link where they can upload playlists they’d like to share. Once they’ve added their music, they simply submit it through the app.

The event flow takes place during the actual event. Participants can open the app, which detects the song currently playing and finds it within the system.

Guests can react to the music by liking or disliking it, and songs they like are saved so they can view them later.

The Design System

- Typography:

Poppins

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

- Visual Identity:

For the visual identity, I created animated, overlapping colors that flow in and out of each other, representing the merging of different people and their unique music tastes.

Each event is given a custom color palette generated by the AI, based on the vibe it picks up from its conversation with the event planner.

Along with designing the app, we also designed its App Store page to clearly communicate the concept and attract users.
