The Process
- Identifying
the Issue:

In today's tech-driven world, traditional reading habits are declining. People are more inclined towards digital entertainment, leading to a significant drop in reading books.

A survey administered by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2022, found that the percentage of U.S. adults who read novels or short stories declined at a 17% rate, from 45.2 percent in 2012 to 37.6 percent in 2022—the lowest record with the survey.
- Our Goals:
Our goal is to create an app that uses the same technology pulling people away from books to draw them back in. Through progress tracking, encouraging reminders, and rewarding experiences, we transform a distraction into a tool for rekindling a love for reading.

- Research:
We started by researching and analyzing our competition to better understand what makes their designs successful and how we might improve the user experience of our app.
After that, we conducted interviews with our potential users to learn more about how to enhance someone's reading experience using our app.

We used those interviews to create
two personas for our application:
Persona #1

Name:
John Lewis

Age:
20 years old

Goals:
Not much of a reader,
Wants to start reading more
and gain knowledge
Persona #2

Name:
Maria Rodriguez

Age:
37 years old

Goal:
A busy mother who wants to
make time for reading
- Storyboard:
We then drew a product storyboard to better understand the app.

When a user first signs up for the app, they complete an onboarding process with questions about their reading preferences and goals. This helps tailor the app's features, like progress tracking and personalized recommendations, to enhance their reading experience.
